Balloons provides support for children, young people and their families before an expected death (pre-bereavement) and following the death (post-bereavement) of someone significant in their lives.
Balloons offers the widest range of practical, emotional and social support to children, young people and their families. We provide guidance over the phone, a chance to ask questions over email, face-to-face support and an opportunity to meet with others in a similar situation.
We are also able to give guidance to professionals and anyone with a role in supporting bereaved children.
The ways in which we can help:
Information, guidance and downloadable support sheets via our website as well as suggested creative activities and resources like these Fret-Me-Not dolls for young children with anxiety and sleep problems.
A dedicated phone line and referral service for parents, carers and professionals who are in contact with grieving children and young people.
Following the referral process, a trained Grief Support Worker will work with the child or young person at home, in school, alone or in a sibling group
Our Activity Days and Family Events give children and young people who have received one-to-one support from Balloons an opportunity to have fun and enjoy themselves with others in a similar situation
We can recommend resources and publications, and deliver training courses, talks and consultancy to help professionals support bereaved children and young people
