Chief Executive OfficerSara has spent many years working in the Higher Education sector, the grant giving sector and the voluntary sector. She is passionate about inclusion and equality, and about delivering services which reach out to people when they are at their most vulnerable, supporting them to build resilience and cope. Sara is delighted to be the first CEO for Balloons, and looks forward to building the strength of the charity as it continues to respond to the needs of pre and post bereaved children and young people. Sara lives in Exeter with her family and uses running as a means of stress busting, although her marathon days are now behind her!
Volunteer Coordinator and SupervisorLiz is our Volunteer Coordinator and Supervisor. Liz has worked in a variety of childcare settings for over 25 years and has particular experience in working with children and young people with additional needs. Liz is a trained NNEB and a qualified counselor with further training in using therapeutic play skills with children and in the mental health area. Liz was a volunteer Grief Support Worker for 3 years with Balloons and became a paid member of staff in 2015. She lives in Exmouth with her husband and 2 dogs.
Office, Systems and Event ManagerJo is the Office, Systems and Event Manager and has been working for Balloons since 2013 and loves running the Activity Days for children and young people supported by Balloons. Jo lives in Crediton with her husband, 2 children & Bonnie the dog, who is a regular in the Balloons office!
Agency Trainer & Grief Support WorkerDonna has been working for Balloons since 2015 as our Agency Trainer and Grief Support Worker. As a qualified and experienced counsellor Donna has also been a huge support to the team and has been able to do wonderful Grief Support Work with children and young people referred to Balloons. Donna is responsible for the training of all our volunteer Grief Support Workers. Donna is now implementing a programme of Twilight Childhood Grief Sessions for school staff and other professionals, as well as bespoke training for local schools. When not at Balloons Donna volunteers with the Margaret Jackson Centre and teaches guitar.
