Balloons provides support for children, young people and their families before an expected death (pre-bereavement) and following the death (post-bereavement) of someone significant in their lives.

Balloons offers the widest range of practical, emotional and social support to children, young people and their families. We provide guidance over the phone, a chance to ask questions over email, face-to-face support and an opportunity to meet with others in a similar situation.

We are also able to give guidance to professionals and anyone with a role in supporting bereaved children.

The ways in which we can help:

Information, guidance and downloadable support sheets via our website.

A dedicated phone line and referral service for parents, carers and professionals who are in contact with grieving children and young people.

Following the referral process, a trained Grief Support Worker will work with the child or young person at home, in school, alone or in a sibling group

Our Activity Days offer the opportunity for young people to meet others who have had a similar experience, learn new skills and gain confidence; whilst our family events also give parents and carers a chance to meet other families who have experienced a significant loss.

We can recommend resources and publications, and deliver training courses, talks and consultancy to help professionals support bereaved children and young people
